The problem
The growth of waiting lists is one of the most relevant issue in modern public healthcare systems. Organizations have to deal with constraints such as bed number, operating room availabiliy, personnell, costs.
Patients aim to get a clear, transparent and fair treatment, that takes into account their real care needs. With surgiQ both requirements can be satisfied.
The proposed solution
SurgiQ is a high added value product & methodology for surgical waiting lists management built in cooperation with clinicians. The Web based application supports an organizational model that can optimize overall referrals management in small to large hospitals.
SurgiQ is based on the assignment of an implicit urgency score given to each patient at registration and on the following referrals’ prioritization on the waiting list. The organizational model that the system is based on complies with Italian regulation established by the national Government (Conferenza Stato Regioni on July 2002, 11th: Clinical urgency classes A, B, C, D) and has been developed and validated during a six year research projects with clinical users. Nextage takes this public model and offers technical solutions and methodology support in order to implement it in customer’s scenarios.
SurgiQ is designed for surgical providers (single units, departments and whole hospitals) and health administrations (regional to national).
SurgiQ allows the management of all referrals by having the whole picture accessible at a glance on a click and includes information for patients and monitoring of their waiting time. Synoptic reports are provided by waiting list variations analysis and planning tools for surgical resources are provided to monitoring institutions and managers by advanced service performance indexes.
